Annette Himstedt counts amongst the first generation of doll makers who, about 20 years ago co founded the new development of artist dolls. Born in 1947 Annette Himstedt started with her Kinder Aus Porzellan. Through years of effort without outside help or attending any formal course, she achieved an enviable position. In 1986 she made her dolls more readily available to a broader audience by building a production plant to produce vinyl dolls. She named them Puppen Kinder and the success was sensational. Her first models were known as the Barefoot Children and a new collection followed annually consisting of 3 to 4 dolls. From 1996 Annette creates 7 new Puppen Kinder each year, one of which is the club doll that members of the club may purchase and another will be a limited edition of 1013 worldwide. Annette Himstedt has received prizes and awards worldwide and validates her high demand for quality and diversity.
